Since Lila picked a throwback song, allow me to do the same.
Yes, it’s another Ani DiFranco song. Dilate has been on my iPod quite a bit lately. It’s odd how sometimes the shuffle seems to keep landing on the same song over and over. Does it mean anything other than some random electronic blip in an otherwise mundane day? Maybe not. But “Shameless” has now played every day on shuffle at the same time of day. Curious.
Ani DiFranco is an artist I don’t think I will ever get tired of listening to. Or reading about. She once proclaimed her love of “F” words (in her case, she meant “feminism” and “folk music”) on Much Music (circa ’03 when I looked it up). She also voiced this gem for Rolling Stone: “I believe in that step of not just making revolutionary music, but making it in a way that challenges the system. Especially in this day and age when the tools for producing and distributing are more and more accessible to the average Joe and Josephine. The possibility of emancipation and control and independence is so much greater now.”
It just seemed to fit for today. Throwback to the ’90s – Shameless:
